L'Aquila - Paganica. The earthquake's epicenter of 6 April 2009. The Paganica fault is constantly monitored and studied by scientists of the Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). In this report the geologist Stefano Pucci goes in the countryside around L'Aquila monitoring the effects that the Paganica fault has created on the crust of Abruzzo. Stefano Pucci, is a researcher at INGV specialized in geology of earthquakes and active tectonics and has a fixed-term contract, renewed several times, which expires December 31, 2012. He has a temporary contract for 12 years. Italy has not made investments in the field of scientific research in Italy for several years. Many Italian scientists have lost their jobs in recent years and many go abroad to do research.
